Tim Merrett is an Ontario-based artist whose inspiration to create art today is directly linked to the creations of old masters from painting’s past, notably Latour, Manet, Vermeer and Van Dijck. Works created from this method feature the traditional order and measure of historical still-life compositions but with a modern resuscitation by the artist. Both ambitious and humble, the painting that emerges from this process has shaken off all the dust from the past and lives within the context of today.
Debra Van Tuinen A showcased artist at the 2005 Florence Biennial, we will also be showcasing recent encaustic painting by Debra Van Tuinen. Surrounded by the natural beauty of the west coast Van Tuinen creates interpretations of landscapes with keen attention to her intellectual and spiritual response to that location. |
