Karrie Arthurs
We are pleased to introduce local artist Karrie Arthurs, an ACAD graduate who has a flare for the beauty of the line. Arthurs’ free-hand ink drawings tell new fables and weave elaborate narratives through the use of rich symbolism, anthropomorphism, and historical references. The use of antique paper, certificates and envelopes in her work create rich platforms for the curious stories her exquisite draftsmanship tell.

Sean William Randall
Sean William Randall is an exciting addition to Weiss. With work reminiscent to Edward Hoppers’ iconic painting “Nighthawks” this Regina-based painter delivers a clear, high contrast handling of acrylic paint. His work in INTRODUCTIONS gives the audience a good dose of present day nostalgia. Randall shares the beautiful and mysterious stillness of modern cityscapes while providing a visual commentary on the architectural marks of rapid growth in prairie cities.

Tim Merrett

Tim Merrett is an Ontario-based artist whose inspiration to create art today is directly linked to the creations of old masters from painting’s past, notably Latour, Manet, Vermeer and Van Dijck. Works created from this method feature the traditional order and measure of historical still-life compositions but with a modern resuscitation by the artist. Both ambitious and humble, the painting that emerges from this process has shaken off all the dust from the past and lives within the context of today.

Debra Van Tuinen
A showcased artist at the 2005 Florence Biennial, we will also be showcasing recent encaustic painting by Debra Van Tuinen. Surrounded by the natural beauty of the west coast Van Tuinen creates interpretations of landscapes with keen attention to her intellectual and spiritual response to that location.
